First Look: Amaranth Ultra Hi Rise Skinny in Graffiti Print

AMARANTH GLOOM, PURE, CRIMSON

Recently debuted in NYLON Magazine’s Young Hollywood issue on Bella Heathcoate, our Amaranth ultra hi rise skinny in graffiti print is the stunning exception this season, not the rule. We have seen floral denim everywhere this season, but to really stand apart from the crowd, incorporate patterned pieces into your wardrobe that are as unique and beautiful as you are. We have created a new, edgy patterned denim that is truly one-of-a-kind.

We asked HABITUAL Design Director Jennifer Wojinski about how she came up with this unique pattern. Jennifer explains, “Most brands choose to go with standard floral motifs or ikats. We completely followed our inspiration and desire to be different and created a unique print instead of just following the crowd…we do prints, but we do it our way.”

Wojinski also shares that she saw beyond the standard florals and took the fashion road less traveled with a graffiti print inspired by the Surrealist art movement, which also happens to be the inspiration for the HABITUAL Fall 2012 Collection. This particular print was custom designed and is not only one-of-a-kind and produced exclusively by HABITUAL, but every pair is truly an original as each pant’s pattern is unique and different from the next. Within the print you’ll find feathers, eyes, words, numbers, text and more that help to create and express the ‘magical’ world of HABITUAL…it even contains the HABITUAL name…see if you can find it!

Who’s Got The Habit: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley

Rosie Huntington-WhiteleyModel and Transformers: Dark of the Moon star, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was spotted wearing the Habitual Addison Moto jeans in Onyx, while shopping in NYC. Although we think Rosie always looks fabulous, we especially loved how she put this look together. She paired the jeans with a red leather jacket, black booties and an oversized bag – a perfect on-the-go, yet incredibly stylish look.

Thanks to our friends at Denim Blog for spotting this first!

On Trend: HABITUAL Color Coated Denim

HABITUAL Color Coated Denim Spread

You might have spotted our new coated denim ad running in this month’s NYLON. To create one of fall’s hottest trends, we start with a denim base, which gives the pants the shape and comfort of a pair of jeans, and then cover it in a coat of pigment to get a leather look on the outside, without the cost associated with the real thing. We have always loved leather, and coated allows us to achieve a similar look in a super soft new treatment. As a bonus, we don’t have to harm any small animals.

While many brands are doing a black coated denim for fall, what sets our coated apart is the color story and the quality of the denim underneath. We start with a super fine European legging denim for the base – no expense spared - so you get great fabric recovery and the best fit. We’ve also pushed beyond black and picked up some of the hottest trend colors from the fall. Coating is a tougher way to bring color into the line, taking on a deeper, richer tone and adding a rock & roll edge to the jeans, so we’ve avoided fluorescent pinks and oranges, and opted for tones like licorice, chocolate, chianti and vermilion. Aside from getting you on trend for fall, wearing a pair of coated denim just plain looks cool.

This photo was shot in our LA factory by Josh Argyle. We actually found this beautiful vintage wood panel in our storage area, and used it as a backdrop on a whim. Sure enough, after we looked at all the pictures, this shot turned out to be the one we all liked best.

You can pick up HABITUAL’s new Color Coated Denim at Scoop NYC and Fred Segal Girl.
