On Trend: Alice Coated Skinny Jeans in Kiss

ALICE KISS

Summer officially starts next week, which means that we want versatile outfits and pieces that can be dressed up or dressed down for day and night. Neutral colored pants are the perfect choice if you want to go from daytime to nighttime without the hassle of changing.

Start your day off right by pairing the Alice Coated Skinny Jeans in Kiss with a simple and clean white strapless corset top and coral pumps for a splash of color. After a long day out and about, slip on an airy silk black  blouse and pumps for an elegant and more sophisticated look for your evening. Two looks tied together with one staple piece. Feel free to throw on a chunky bracelet and/or gorgeous clutch to add your own touch of style.

Color Inspiration: Yellow

Almas Zip Skinny in Tapestry

Last fall we saw Acid Yellow trending in all the Spring 2012 lines at the Paris and London Fashion Weeks.  This spring, we have our own unique take on the Yellow trend. Our mid-range acid yellow-dyed denim falls somewhere between a pastel and gold, creating a beautiful wash we like to call “Tapestry.” We absolutely adore how this resilient tone has taken on a strong presence in so many spring looks. In the May issue of InStyle, our Tapestry Almas Zip Skinny’s were cleverly paired with a sleepwear top for a cool casual look.

The best thing about the color Yellow is that not only is it a spring favorite, but Yellow absolutely calls out summer too! As Spring 2012 storms in and summer quickly approaches, we wanted to share some of our favorite Yellow color inspirations for the coming seasons. Check out our Pinterest page for a an in-depth look at our design team’s “Color Inspiration: Yellow” board. You won’t want to miss it!

On Trend: Neo-Victorian

Neo-victorian Style Shot
The Victorian period falls under Queen Victoria’s reign in England, from 1837 to 1901, when fashion was characterized by big bell-shaped sleeved dresses with lots of lace and detailing, corsets, large hats and bonnets, and the occasional parasol. Now obviously we can’t walk around nowadays with enormous dresses and feather hats, but that doesn’t mean we can’t reinterpret the fashion of the day. To get a Neo-Victorian look, start with a flare pant in a solid, neutral color. Here we have the HABITUAL Harlow Flare in Grey, and pair it with a draping blouse to evoke the movement and continuity of a dress. Add some English flair with an oxford high heel, and bring in Victorian era detailing and color with vintage jewelry or earrings. We caution against taking it any more literal than that, unless it’s Halloween, or you happen to be Lady Gaga.

Who’s Got the Habit? Molly Sims

The number one question fans ask Molly Sims is “What kind of jean do you like”? Molly took to YouTube this week to talk up our Alice Skinny, which she calls “a staple in my wardrobe”.  She also talks about the great stretch quality, and how they “suck you in”. This particular wash is called Eventide Redux, a dark denim with a little bit of sheen, so it’s appropriate for any outfit from day to night. We’re so flattered she called our jeans flattering!

Following her recent marriage to Scott Stuber, you can next see Molly as the host of the new Lifetime show Project Accessory, a spinoff of fellow model Heidi Klum’s successful Project Runway, which premieres on October 27th at 10:30.

Get the look at Opensky.com, there are still a few sizes of Molly’s favorite wash left!

On Trend: All Things Python

HABITUAL Audrey legging in Black Mamba

While Vogue attributes this spring’s python trend to the Egyptian Cobra that recently escaped from the Bronx Zoo (In case you missed it, a parody Twitter account @BronxZoosCobra was the talk of the town, gaining over 240,000 followers and receiving offers for a stay at the Plaza Hotel and an endorsement deal with SKYY Vodka, among other things), this is actually the most recent iteration of a larger, ongoing animal leather and exotic skin trend. Python has found home this season on everything from YSL platforms to bags, and you can even get a python pedicure treatment.

Our own take on snake is the Audrey legging in the wash Black Mamba. This is a black treatment with plenty of shine and a leathery snakeskin detail. The name comes from an African snake called the Black Mamba, the fastest snake in the world and also one of the most venomous. We like to pair it with a simple black or white top and clean shoes to contrast the energy of the legging. Choose a bright polish on your next manicure to add a bit of color.

If you live in the LA area, you can find it exclusively at Nordstrom South Coast Plaza, Mission Viejo, Brea, or Thousand Oaks, or at Code C in West Hollywood. The style will ship to additional stores later this year.

First Look! Audrey Legging in Black Mamba in C Magazine

Look for the Audrey Legging in black mamba in the “Trunk Show” feature of April’s C Magazine. Black mamba is a fabric treatment that gives the legging a sexy snakeskin look with plenty of shine and texture. We recommend pairing it with a simple tee or tank in black or white to balance (and not distract from) the glitzy look of the pants. We loved the pant so much we named it after the black mamba, the fastest snake in the world and also one of the most venomous.

If you are a Southern California lady, you can find it exclusively at Nordstrom South Coast Plaza, Mission Viejo, Brea or Thousand Oaks, or at Code C in West Hollywood.C Magazine Trunk Show - April
