Wintery vibes call for drama, which this season means a gorgeously deep blue. Inspired by its use in painting, including one of our favorite artists Ilya Repin, our fall collection includes the Alice waxed skinny in Prussian Blue, a hue seen all over the runways in Spring/Summer 2014 looks by the likes of Haider Ackermann, Acne, Catherine Malandrino and Zac Posen. To get the HABITUAL version of the trend that will carry you into next year, visit Scoop or Neiman Marcus to purchase. (And see more of the images that inform our designs on HABITUAL’s Pinterest.)
Do you Covet? Covet is a new virtual styling app where Habitual was recently top-rated! Coveters used our Addison Hi Rise Moto and Grace Hi Rise Skinny pants in their looks in events ranging from “Figure Drawing Class” to “Natural Elements” to play the game. Finally, a guilt-free way to commit a sin.
For off-duty dressing without the resignation of sweats, we turn to separates in sensual materials and edgy prints, like Mary Katrantzou’s modal-and-cashmere Landscape scarf, paired with our comfy-but-glam Habitual Eve in Deep, a Nordstrom exclusive. Add a brimmed hat by WoodWood to ward chills with on-trend style, and you’re totally not in business. Also pictured: Protagonist tee in 3-ply silk and Rag & Bone Bannon booties.
The high-low mix continues to dominate the fashion compass this season and Neiman Marcus nails a biker-feminine take on the concept with their recent editorial pairing Habitual denim with au courant Los Angeles destinations. J’adore! Check their new site Cusp and Neiman Marcus to purchase the styles shown and more.
From the stripped-down blues of the Black Keys and Gary Clark Jr. to a more abstract desire to give the Southern Gothic era a modern twist, inspiration for our Fall 2013 collection takes form in the sensuous colors of the past in sharp, clean cuts.
We’ve spent the last few days showing our upcoming Spring/Summer 2014 line at the Coterie fashion exhibition in the gorgeous I.M. Pei-designed Javits building. The “space frame” windows cast a beautiful NYC light on some favorites of the collection, a trio in our coated white denim. Using a secret wash formula to produce, these pieces lend a clean and sharp look to any wardrobe that you simply can’t get anywhere else!
This season’s collection takes its inspiration in part from American gothic writers such as Edgar Allen Poe, who wrote “All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream.” Of course his famed work “The Raven” also evokes the romantic sensibility we chose for fall, as seen on Olivia Wilde who wears the Habitual Amalia Skinny in Licorice in InStyle’s September issue.
From nautical origins and ’90s boot cuts to the hippies that cemented them in fashion history, flares make multiple references while adding glamourous length to legs too. We were thrilled to see Shopbop’s boho-tomboy take on the silhouette in their Fall Denim Edit, featuring a look they dub “Bell du Jour“—our Habitual Harrison Bells styled with an also-on-trend track jacket, sneakers and plenty of accessories.
For a minimalist look with a totally “now” edge, new design studio Leon + Bella’s first product line consists of limited-edition totes and backpacks in neon-accented leather and canvas. The brand tags itself “Americana,” embodying the concept throughout by making all their products in the USA, and by balancing a commitment to quality and attention to detail with an unfussy elegance. This laid-back approach makes the accessories as suitable for the beach as for the boardroom. We’d happily pair a Leon + Bella with our Habitual Angelina jean for any “summer fun” occasion.
