Hair chalking has been around for a little while, and we found that it’s still on trend in pastels. We especially like Rackk and ruin’s DIY attitude, suggesting picking up soft pastels from the art supply store to get the look. There is no need to spend over $30 at the salon for some fun hair color. Try doing two colors on one strand, and styling with a fishtail braid or an up-do to spice up your hairdo every so often. We love Lauren Conrad’s “Cotton candy bun” up-do.

If you haven’t noticed yet, this season is ALL about color. From Boardwalk Empire sets and costumes to Parisian Fashion House, Rochas‘, bag on Luisaviaroma, this 1920’s inspired mint green color is popping everywhere (just like our recent post on peach). We love this gorgeous and stronger update to a pastel green. This minty green has a little more life and punch to it than a normal pastel green.

From shoes to flowers, peach and its cousin neon peach are popping up everywhere these days. What we love about this orange incarnation is that it absolutely screams spring and summer. It’s a nice amount of added color without getting too in-your-face about it. Our take on the trend is this peachy coral for our Almas Skinny Jean. The look was such a hit that we’re actually all sold out!

This latest women’s collection is all about confidence and romance, and we are loving the ‘dark glamour’ of Gucci this season! Frida Giannini’s Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection features tons of super luxe velvet in dresses, skirts and pants, and a super-rich color palette with deep sea greens, blues and blacks. This collection is luxurious and understands print stories. Style.com reports the mood, not unlike at her men’s show last month, was dark—with rich tapestry jacquards, plush velvets, a hothouse floral printed on a ground of black, and a palette that revolved around plum, bottle green, espresso, and jet. We could go on, but basically we just LOVE it all! Here are some of our favorite looks.

We have “sprung” our clocks forward, and now that just means it’s time to pull out our shorts! This spring we are all about our Hi Rise Thalia short. A classic look found in several colors that you can mix and match with any outfit to dress up or dress down. Versatile and cute – what more could you ask for?

We are sure you’re asking, “What is crackle coated?” Well, it’s a more distressed take on our coated denim. It’s not intended to emulate the leather look, rather coated denim that has been worn over time. Therefore, it looks a little “crackled.” Our crackle coating is available on our Almas Hi Rise Zip Skinny. The Almas is a skinny cut denim that shows off the legs down below, but comes together up top in a slightly higher rise, perfectly suited to the modern woman.

A major conclusion coming out of the most recent fashion week was that “It’s all about prints” for Fall/Winter 2012 – a preponderance of prints you might call it. We saw all types of patterns, inspirations, colors, and techniques, from basic giant flowers by Christopher Kane to playful trompe l’oeil looks from Mary Katrantzou to natural abstracts from Helmut Lang.
We love this trend for denim too: in case you missed it, we’re super excited to debut our own signature print in three colors this fall.

As always, we ooh-ed and ahh-ed at the gorgeous new collections during New York Fashion Week, but the one collection that we just cannot stop thinking about is the Tribune Standard Fall 2012 RTW Collection. You’ll see a pheasant and feather motif throughout, including a gorgeous rust and ochre pheasant feather signature print. We loved the hyper-feminine silhouettes of the skirts and dresses, and the general focus on the waist. One of our favorite looks was a tweed softly-pleated straight leg trouser with cream pumps, a fragile cream lace top and the rust belt. They even make the super slinky gold lame-look cool again! Style.com perfectly describes the Tribune Standard Fall 2012 Collection as, “more ladylike than louche, and felt, happily, timeless.”

At HABITUAL, we praise the European-influenced look of fashionistas like Emmanuelle Alt, who has a mastery of the chic yet relaxed look. Our new Angelina Cigarette Skinny jeans is a slimmer take on the European influenced look. To recreate the modern, sexier Audrey Hepburn look, try applying these style cues.
Pair the Angelina Cigarette Skinny with a men’s Tuxedo shirt for a laid-back, European vibe; or if you want to go for an even more casual, but still insanely cool look, go with a loose cashmeres sweater in gray. While neons have definitely been trending for spring, make sure that you don’t overwhelm your outfit with too much color. Try a bright leather belt and finish the outfit off with either a traditional pump or a moto kitten heel for a sexier and tougher look.

Plenty of jewelry lines have begun incorporating rough hewn and natural looking gemstones into looks, but designer Natalie Dissel just might be leading the pack. Her work features super luxe, dreamy, nature inspired works, including specialty items like cufflinks for men (or women). A pair of earrings featuring a bright crystal or gemstone color is an excellent way to pick up on colored denim, or complement the edginess of a dark pair of coated jeans or a moto look.
