Here’s a Fall 2013 RTW collection that has really stood out to us this Fashion Week – 3.1 Phillip Lim. Throughout the collection you’ll see a theme of the ‘girlfriends’ of bikers, and we absolutely love this look! Lim also used rich texture in his designs, including quilting, which you’ll actually see in our upcoming fall collection too! The collection also plays with a subtle, but sophisticated devil-may-care- color palette that we adore! One look we fell in love with is the look in the middle featured above – the outfit has a very cool, goth, warrior-look.
From Amy Pohler sitting on George Clooney’s lap to Jodie Foster’s semi-confessional speech to Jennifer Lawrence’s adorable acceptance speech, the 70th Golden Globes was definitely a night to remember. Of all of the gorgeous gowns, here were the dresses we won’t forget:
Jessica Alba presented last night in a gorgeous coral gown by Oscar de la Renta. From her dress to her hair, make up and accessories, she looked fabulous head to toe.
Kate Hudson looked fabulously stunning in a Alexander McQueen gown. We love the black with gold accents – this mom of two looked great!
Jennifer Lawrence went home with a Golden Globe for Best Actress for her amazing performance in “Silver Linings Playbook.” We think she also the stole the show last night in Dior Haute Couture & Chopard.
The 2013 award season has officially begun. Oscar nominations were announced this morning, the Golden Globes are on Sunday and the 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards were held last night at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Last night, the people’s voices were heard and the awards honored the fans’ favorite shows, movies and celebs. What we are most excited about is to see all of the fabulous gowns and beautiful looks on the red carpet this year. To start, here’s some of our favorite looks from last night:
The Oscar and Golden Globes nominee for Best Actress, Naomi Watts, stood out in her metallic gold top and long black dress by Alexander McQueen.
The People’s Choice Awards Favorite Dramatic TV Actress, Ellen Pompeo, look sophisticated and classy in her Lanvin white gown.
And the fans Favorite Country Artist, Taylor Swift, looked stunning in a low cut Ralph Lauren gown. We love how she accessorized with Sutra earrings.
Who were your favorite looks? What red carpet are you most looking forward to this season?
Remember when we told you that mint was on trend earlier this year? Well, it’s not leaving anytime soon! We love the color so much that we decided to pull our favorite mint shades to create our own wash for our Resort 2012 collection, our Angelina Cigarette Skinny jean in Fresh Moss. It’s a wash that adds a little bit of color, but neutral enough that it can be worn like a gray wash. Below are some of our favorite inspiration photos and you can find more on our Pinterest page!
Now that it is officially fall, many of us will be pulling out our good ole’ cords! Over the years, corduroys have come and gone and come back again as fashion favorites. This fall, they are definitely on trend. We created our Angelina Cigarette Corduroy in Passion Flower with the perfect amount of stretch to fit perfectly on any shape or size. Our design team chose to create the cords in a deep purple adding a warmth and a richness that will pop against the corduroy’s texture. Not only is deep purple a great alternative to the usual neutral colors, it also adds a little edge. Here are a few images that inspired the beautiful color, and don’t forget to take a look at our color inspiration board on Pinterest here. Happy Fall!
We finally had the chance to take a look back at more of the amazing lines from New York Fashion Week, and Duro Olowu’s line is another complete stand out. Duro Olowu has been mixing colors and prints long before prints became cool again and his distinct style and language sticks to that – no matter what other trends he might address. We love when Style.com wrote, “Seriously: There is no earthly reason why a trim jacket made with contrasting pieces of toile de Jouy should work, but…Olowu makes the look convincing.” And, it’s true – he makes it work every time.
There are so many lines we are drooling over from New York Fashion Week, but Proenza Schouler’s the first stand out. The Proenza Schouler boys, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, have taken patchwork to a new level. The sophisticated patchwork leather and the boxy jacket silhouettes are just exquisite. We are obsessed with their use of varied greens (from soft bright acid yellow, green python, minty aquas) and of course our favorite red and black color combination.
Where did they get their new inspiration from? Style.com reports that with fashion now being in the digital age, McCollough and Hernandez has used Tumblr as their use of inspiration (we do that too!). And with the opening of their first ever store last week on Madison Avenue and the reveal of their Spring 2013 RTW collection, we are applauding Proenza Schouler on a job well-done.
Printed denim has definitely been on trend this year, and our Angelina Cigarette in Rose Red is our take of wearing “our heart on our pants.”

Necklace: H&M Necklace
Our Surrealist-inspired pieces that have somewhat of a hidden and symbolic meaning continue, as our newest Acacia Skinny Herringbone Tuxedo Pant was inspired by the idea of having very complicated treatments – one that you might see on silk tops or runway collections. Designer Jennifer Wojinski says, “I wanted details that were somewhat hidden and make you look twice because you are wondering how the treatment was done.”
Although the Acacia Skinny Herringbone Tuxedo Pant is a take on the traditional tuxedo pant, the treatment, folds and pleats on our pants are very hyper-feminine with it fitting perfectly around the leg and extreme detail. This pant is surely a fun pair to dress up with a delicate blouse and nice pair of heels or dress it down with a vintage tee and boots this fall (think concerts, nights out and for a bit of fun at work!).

This year’s summer music festivals are slowly dwindling down, but one of our favorites is finally here this weekend, Lollapalooza. And despite the sticky Chicago humidity and sometimes unpredictable weather (last year’s rain), Lollapalooza is the perfect weekend to wrap up the summer and enjoy amazing music with friends at Grant Park.
We put together an outfit that will keep you cool and stylish through the long and warm days with our summer favorite Thalia shorts. Pair the denim shorts with a cute white lace top for a boho look, or we found this amazing loose black top with the back holes (great ventilation) creating a skull face! Don’t forget to accessorize with over-sized shades and an arm party!
Shorts: HABITUAL Thalia Short in Zen
Earrings: Vintage Daisy Earrings
Sun glasses: The Human Fly – Matte Tortoise Lenses
Shoes: Dolce Vita Cybele Woven Flat Sandals
One band to look out for that we have been playing over and over is Of Monsters and Men – we can’t stop listening to “Little Talks”!
