The Habit’s 2013 People’s Choice Awards Best Dressed

The 2013 award season has officially begun. Oscar nominations were announced this morning, the Golden Globes are on Sunday and the 39th Annual People’s Choice Awards were held last night at Nokia Theatre L.A. Live. Last night, the people’s voices were heard and the awards honored the fans’  favorite shows, movies and celebs. What we are most excited about is to see all of the fabulous gowns and beautiful looks on the red carpet this year. To start, here’s some of our favorite looks from last night:

The Oscar and Golden Globes nominee for Best Actress, Naomi Watts, stood out in her metallic gold top and long black dress by Alexander McQueen.

The People’s Choice Awards Favorite Dramatic TV Actress, Ellen Pompeo, look sophisticated and classy in her Lanvin white gown.

And the fans Favorite Country Artist, Taylor Swift, looked stunning in a low cut Ralph Lauren gown. We love how she accessorized with Sutra earrings.

Who were your favorite looks? What red carpet are you most looking forward to this season?

Made in the USA: Etten Eller

Etten Eller

Designed and produced in Brooklyn, NY, Etten-Eller first began when designer Cristina Bloom started playing around with the inner workings or timepieces to create jewelry pieces. You’ll notice now, Bloom no longer creates jewelry from watch parts, but her pieces still are somewhat time stamped. Instead of an anonymous serial number, each item has a date associated with it. Bloom shared that every piece carries a date with some significant date in time. The one piece that caught our eye was a piece from her Fall 201o collection, dated 05.20.1873 – the day blue jeans were patented!

While we want to say that Cristina is an “artist we love,” her jewelry line Etten-Eller is actually a play off the title of Danish philosopher’s Søren Aabye Kierkegaard work, “Enten-Eller,” meaning “either-or” in Danish. In a recent interview with The L Magazine, Cristina Bloom explained that she named her line Etten-Eller because her designs question whether or not something has to be defined as either art or craft. We adore her pieces “either way” – art or craft.

Made in the USA: Berkbinder & Brown

Tool Watch

With a desire to have a watch that wasn’t just serviceable and unattractive, but also not “too nice” that it’s almost like a jewel, Ted Brown, who had spent the 22 years of his life previously at his architecture and construction firm, decided he was set out to create the perfect watch – The Tool Watch. Inspired by his grandfather’s hardware store in South Dakota, Ted started his own brand in Illinois, Berkbinder & Brown. The brand, which is built on “rugged, functional beauty,” includes metal forging and welding, fine metal work, precision machining, architecture, casting woodworking and sculpture. Every piece of The Tool Watch is finely crafted and hand-built by Ted and his team to provide a unique design and still practical usage. We admire the intense amount of thought and care Berkbinder & Brown brings to the product and his honor to carry on his grandfather’s legacy. Watch the great video below to learn even more about the process and company!

Last month, at the “12-12-12″ concert which benefited The Robin Hood Relief Fund to aid the victims of Hurricane Sandy in New York City, Olivia Wilde was spotted in our Amalia Skinny jeans in Licorice. We love how the Tron actress paired her all black ensemble with red hot studded pumps!
